Tree ID Walk with Chicago Enviro and CRTI!
About this Event
Do you love nature, but don't know as much about trees as you'd like to? Do you want to be able to identify tree species in our area and better understand how to take care of them? Do you enjoy feeling like a wood nymph in the forest?!
If so, this is the event for you! We're heading into Labagh Woods with the Morton Arboretum's Chicago Region Tree Initiative to learn more about tree species in our area and how to take care of them. At the end, we will lead everyone back to the picnic grove for Fall Nature Fest, a family-friendly eco event hosted by Cook County Commissioner Bridget Degnen's office. Please note that all ages are welcome for this event, but we recommend leaving strollers behind because we will be walking on trails and they may not be able to pass through them.
Chicago Environmentalists is a 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to change Chicago culture so environmental issues become a social and political priority. They run an online sustainability community where those who care about environmental issues can ask questions and find sustainability resources, events, news, policy updates, and more. They also host a website that serves as the "Green Pages" of Chicagoland, and advocate for environmental legislation.
The Morton Arboretum's Chicago Region Tree Initiative takes action to improve the tree canopy in communities throughout the region and beyond with a focus on environmental equity and disadvantaged communities. Its work includes building municipal and civic capacity and support for the care and planting of trees; creating strong partnerships with community members, government agencies, and the green industry; inspiring and training tree stewards; coordinating action to improve the future for oaks; and providing science-informed guidance for on-the-ground action.
