Tree ID Training Day in Seaton Park

Join Aileen Meek of the Botanical Society of Britain & Ireland for an Outdoor Winter/Spring Tree ID Meeting in the environs of the Cruickshank Botanic Gardens and Seaton Park.

We'll be well into spring; identification clues should be plentiful such as leaves and blossom but in addition, we will be taking a closer look at features such as bark, branch form, shape and texture, buds and clues on the ground such as last year's fruits and seeds.

We will aim to identify at least ten local well known tree species, as well as comparing others. A (fun!) Tree Twig Test at the end will help us gauge how familiar we've become with our local trees in winter/spring. If you have your own Tree ID book, you are welcome to bring that too. It will be helpful to bring a camera, notebook, pencil and x10 hand lens if you have one. There will be some available to borrow if not. Bring lunch and a waterproof!
