Tree Guardian event - Canton

Activity details:
Our Tree Guardian events will provide volunteers with the skills and confidence to survey new trees, including:
🌳 how to identify common tree species
🌳 how to check plant health
🌳 what to flag to us for maintenance
🌳 different ways to record your findings
Depending on site needs, there may be supervised maintenance activities undertaken as part of the event. This may include:
🌳 pruning
🌳 support stake removal
🌳 managing competitive vegetation
This is also an opportunity for you to feedback on the guidance we provide Tree Guardians, share ideas for future planting, and receive free Coed Caerdydd branded gear.
These events are open to all, you don’t have to already be part of the Tree Guardian network but we hope it inspires you to sign up to look after newly planted sites in your area!

What do I need to bring?
Outdoor clothes, sensible shoes (e.g. walking boots or wellies), waterproofs, water, snacks, and your enthusiasm!
Please note there will be no formal toilet facilities.
Do I need experience or tools?
No, we will provide all tools and training required. All ages and abilities welcome but please let us know if you need any particular support.
All site events are risk assessed by staff with appropriate training. It is your responsibility to inform Coed Caerdydd of any specific needs within the group such as a disability or medical condition that affect the activities.

Coed Caerdydd uses photos in a variety of ways including; Cardiff Council and external press and media, on our Facebook & Twitter pages, website, reports and presentations.

It is your responsibility to inform Coed Caerdydd if you do not wish to have your image recorded.
Do I need to book?

Yes. Signing up helps us to monitor numbers so that we can ensure safety and tool requirements.
