Join us for a special opportunity to explore some of the rare, curious and unique treasures held within NHSN's North East Nature Archive.
Following a brief introduction to the history of NHSN and its remarkable archive by Heritage Researcher Rachel Anderson, guests will be invited to discover a selection of fascinating items that are not usually on public display.
Highlights will include rare 16th-century herbals, exquisite 19th-century botanical watercolours, original Thomas Bewick woodblocks, and other remarkable artefacts that reveal the rich history of natural history study and recording in the North East.
This is a rare chance to get up close to extraordinary objects from NHSN's collections and uncover the stories they tell about the region's wildlife, landscapes and natural heritage.
