Join Kathleen Laurel Sage and let her show you how to use your sewing machine and all those stitches it can do to layer and create a stunning treasure box to keep precious bits and bobs safe. The box can be made on a domestic sewing machine using simple straight and zigzag stitches but can be elevated to the next level with some simple free-motion stitching.
The box is easily achievable for a beginner with a basic machine or for someone more experienced with machines that have lots of programmed embroidery stitches.
Kathy will provide a pattern and will demonstrate throughout the day how to use tiny bits of fabric to layer the surface with colour, pick and use simple stitches to bring fabric and thread together to make a fabulous box to display and treasure.
All you need to do is choose your fabrics, colours, and threads to get started.
There will be a small amount of hand stitching at the final stage of assembly. This little treasure is a sewing machine project ideal for all.
You will need a sewing machine with drop feed dogs, basic sewing supplies, your choice of threads, and water-soluble fleece. Detailed requirements will be emailed to you in advance of the class.
