Travel Sketching in Gouache at Peebles Island State Park with Rachael Duchnycz

You’ll learn how to build a portable gouache kit, create quick value studies, block in bold shapes, and add expressive details—all while working on location. We’ll start with guided warm‑ups to help you simplify the complex natural forms around you. Then, from your choice of river overlook or wooded trail viewpoint, you’ll complete a full travel‑style gouache sketch that captures the light, color, and atmosphere of Peebles Island. Supplies are not included in the workshop fee. A PDF supply list is available in the workshop description.
Please note that our classes are typically held in the lower level of Arlene's. Because access to the lower level is available only by stair, please let us know if using the stairs presents any difficulty for you in advance of the class so we can make alternate arrangements. We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy and participate in our classes.
