Understanding of Trauma
About this Event
Presenters: Diane Sweinhagen MA, LPCC-S and Melinda Kostecky MS, ATR-BC
This training builds on the foundational knowledge from our Trauma 101, deepening learning and awareness of trauma and trauma-informed care. It is designed for individuals who work with those who may have experienced trauma and have previously completed Trauma 101 or another foundational trauma-informed care training.
Topics Covered in Trauma 201:
- Review definitions of trauma and explore key factors and differences.
- Identify common challenges and barriers to healing after traumatic events.
- Learn practical strategies to support individuals experiencing trauma reactions.
- Explore common treatment approaches and techniques.
- Discuss the unique and personal nature of post-traumatic growth.
This workshop is not intended to train participants in specific intervention techniques. Instead, it focuses on using a deeper understanding of trauma to foster a trauma-informed approach and build a more resilient, trauma-informed community.
The training content is based on current research and insights from leading experts, including Dr. Gabor MatΓ© and Dr. Nadine Burke Harris.
