Tempe is a leader in transportation, boasting the first Bicycle Plan in Arizona in the early 1970s, the first in Arizona to pass a dedicated tax to fund transit, and the first in the Valley to adopt a Vision Zero policy that seeks to achieve no serious or fatal traffic crashes.
Today, Tempe has the most diverse transportation system in Arizona and boasts the highest bicycle commute rate in the region and the highest per capita transit ridership in Arizona. Now it’s time to look to the future, and shape what’s next for transportation in Tempe – and we need your help!
Tempe will host the first of several opportunities to provide input on the next Transportation Plan with public meetings on Aug. 13. The in-person meeting will be open-house style. Community members are invited to come by any time. There will be giveaways and prizes!
