I am excited to announce I’ll be heading to Melbourne in October to teach about transitional movements for 0-18 months. It will include
- birth as a transition and its relation to head and neck control
- initiation of knees up during supine core control by 3 months
- beginnings of trunk control and rolling by 6 months
- ability to move from prone or supine to seated and use of spinal muscles in seated
- ability to cross midline in seated and return, and not losing control when looking up
- ability to move from seated to quad position over both knees
- ability to pull to standing on both sides rather than through the centre
- ability to find balance for walking
These will all be discussed through the lens of neurodevelopment, emerging and integrating primitive reflexes as well as encouraging them to be present when not showing at age appropriate time, and which ways are useful for treating these using OCF as well as some gentle articulation and myofascial release.
