About The Teacher
Louise is an educated vocal teacher from Brighton Institute of Modern Music (BA Hons and Diploma in vocals performance). Louise has 15 years of gigging experience, along with an in depth understanding of the music industry having managed her solo project ‘Lu’Ami' for 9 years. She plays a loop pedal, flute and synth to write and produce her own music, and has composed for choirs as well as bands.
“A raw talent using a sample pad in such a way it’s clear she has an astute musical intelligence. Sounding like a mix of old school jazz vocals, Prince and Bjork without sounding like a fax machine…an incredible performance” – Festivals for All
Her debut album was released in 2023 and was written about in Rolling Stone and Wordplay Magazines.
“Lu'Ami's experimental and instrumental approach to her music is as captivating as the album's intricate production. The songs often start softly, gradually building before being torn apart, creating an engaging, unpredictable listening experience.” - Wordplay Magazine
Louise’s vocal has been featured on adverts such as Boots, Co-op and Snap Dragon, and TV programmes Dr Who and HBO’s ‘The Sex Lives Of Collage Girls’. She has also been featured on and played live on BBC Radio.
“Lu'Ami's vocals are a revelation, oscillating effortlessly between fragile, plaintive moments and resolute affirmations, echoing the tumultuous emotional rollercoaster she rode during this tumultuous period.” - Ear Milk
Alongside private and group vocal coaching in pop and musical theatre styles, Louise has facilitated music workshops with charities such as Create, Autism UK, Honeypot Young Carers Charity, Age UK and Bristol Autism Project. Louise has been mentored by Kim Chandler (pedagogue in pop vocal technique), written and delivered lectures for Waterbear Collage of Music and curated rerunning singing courses for All In Actors University.
“Entering into a space where I was doing something out of my comfort zone, I loved the feeling within a short period of time of experiencing those emotions of social support through people doing it together. This made that zone feel less scary. I feel more confident, not just in my ability to sing but more confident to try things out of my comfort zone after doing that workshop. I have since played the recording we made to so many people in my life and I love hearing all of our voices together and remembering the fact that I did it, I am so proud that I was part of something like that.”- Sasha (Workshop Attendee)
A vocal coach for over ten years, Louise is a very bubbly and positive person and passionate about teaching music. She has a welcoming attitude and is accommodating of students different learning styles having taught across the ages 5-45. She enjoys to see and support the growth of passion, confidence and skill in a new student once they realise their own singing and creative potential.
Private Reviews
"I've really been enjoying lessons with Louise and have found her encouraging, insighful and easy to talk to. I've definitely seen progress in my singing and have learnt foundations that I've never had despite some experience singing in a choir. I would very much recommend her as a teacher." - A (Private student)
"Learning from Lu'Ami is always loads of fun and she is incredible at getting you relaxed and comfortable from the first lesson. I always lacked confidence as a singer but even after the first session I immediately improved, getting compliments from other musicians when I was rehearsing and hearing my voice get stronger, more tuneful and confident every week. I would hugely recommend singing lessons from Lu!" - Matthew Managing Director of Studio Chimp (Private student)
“Louise is an absolutely fantastic teacher. Kind, clever and supportive. She's teacher who makes you really excited about lessons. I've made more progress under her than any other singing tutor, who charged me significantly more, and overcome challenges that I thought were insurmountable." - G (Private Student)
