Want to start the year off right by learning some jazz dace moves and how to apply them to your social dancing? Working on your body mechanics to improve your control? Then Classic Choreographies are a great place to start!
On Tuesdays we will start learning/reviewing, practicing, and adding individual stylization to the Tranky Doo!!!
Did you know there are several well known choreographed dances in our global lindy hop community? Tranky Doo is one! This routine is one of the most common to lindy hoppers and was choreographed by Frankie Manning, one of the key icons of lindy hop. Also, if you are planning to go to any big dance events
in 2025, this is one of the three most popular dances we do at those!
I personally enjoy this choreo because it has a lot of opportunity to add variations, play with the people around you, and experiment with musicality. The dance is typically done to either "Tuxedo Junction" or "Dipsy Doodle", which is interesting because those two songs have different structures (32-bar swing, vs 12-bar blues) so the song lines up differently with the breaks!
Cost will be $5 per class. Bring a water bottle and your dance shoes!
