PROFESSIONAL HYPNOTHERAPY PRACTITIONER TRAINING | IN PERSON | YORKSHIREThis practitioner course is designed for people who want to train as ethical, skilled hypnotherapists, whether you are entering the helping professions for the first time or adding hypnotherapy to an existing practice such as counselling, coaching, or wellbeing work.
It is a professional, ten-month training, from April 2026 to February 2027 (excluding August '26). The course runs one weekend per month, alongside guided home study, and is suited to those who are ready to commit fully to their learning.
Places are offered via an application process. Clicking “Interested” or “Going” is very welcome, so you stay in touch, but you should complete an enrolment form to reserve a place. (See links in the first "Discussion" post.)
WHO THE COURSE IS FOR
This training attracts two main groups of students, and both are equally welcome:
People new to the helping professions, looking for a meaningful career working one-to-one with clients
Practitioners already working in related fields (such as counselling, coaching or wellbeing) who want to extend their skills with hypnotherapy
You do not need previous therapy training. What matters more is curiosity, enthusiasm, and a willingness to engage thoughtfully with the learning process.
WHAT THE TRAINING INVOLVES
Duration: Ten weekends held monthly from April 2026 to February 2027 (excluding August '26).
Format: In-person training in Castleford
Study commitment: In addition to the training weekends, you’ll complete personal study and practice at home
Assessment: Ongoing coursework and practical skills development, final exam
Applications: please send in your enrolment form as soon as possible, as places are limited. Please see the link in the first "Discussion" post.
This course is structured to allow learning to build gradually, with time to practise, reflect, and integrate skills between training weekends.
WHAT MAKES THIS COURSE DIFFERENT
Small class sizes, allowing for individual support and meaningful discussion
Direct access to your tutor throughout the course
A dedicated YHT Student Website to support learning between weekends
An optional suicide prevention certification is included at no extra cost
A clear emphasis on ethical practice, critical thinking and real-world clinical skills
Students often comment that the level of support is what allows them to stay grounded and confident as the training progresses.
ABOUT THE TUTOR
The course is taught by Debbie Waller, a hypnotherapist, trainer and author with over 20 years’ experience. Debbie continues to run a busy therapy practice alongside teaching, ensuring that training is firmly rooted in real clinical work rather than theory alone.
She is the author of several books for therapists, including The Metaphor Toolbox and Anxiety to Calm, and is an Advanced Practitioner, Accredited Trainer and Supervisor, and a Fellow of ACCPH.
