This World Elephant Day weekend, step outside and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Hedianga Farm Trails in Pretoria. Walk, run, mountain bike, or simply wander at your own pace. Surrounded by fresh air and open spaces,
it’s the perfect opportunity to slow down, recharge, and enjoy the outdoors while supporting the rescued elephants at Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD).
Whether you’re moving fast or taking it easy, your time in nature helps create a better future for the elephants who call HERD home.
It is a trail running, walking event in support of Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) Trust.
Event Details:
Date: Sunday 16 August 2026
Venue: Hedianga Farm, Olympus AH, Pretoria
Registration: From 7am | Start at 8am
Entry Fee: R200
Distances: Run or Walk – 2km, 5km, 10km, and 15km
First 250 to arrive get a goodie bag
Dog-friendly
Dress-up encouraged with prizes

Registration opens: 06h30
Race start for all distances: @ 07h00
You can still register and start anytime between: 07h00 - 08h00
The 15km is not allowed to start after group start.

ROUTE INFORMATION:
Please note these trails are not for the faint hearted :)
The terrain is quite technical. Here is a breakdown of the distances:
* 5km route is not too difficult. Elevation is around 120m
* 10km gets long with a lot of uphills and down hills, with a fair bit of elevation gain towards the end. Elevation is around 290m
* 15km is definitely a challenge and not recommended for the unfit. The last 5km is very challenging and not for the unfit runners or walkers. Elevation is around 360m
Walking / Hiking is allowed on all distances as long as you finish by the cut-off time of 10h30.
Water tables will be available on all routes
