Trailblazers: Anishinaabe Story-Telling Walk in Forest Glen

Join us as we learn about Anishanaabe values and beliefs through story-telling. While doing so, we will explore this lovely preserve that is part of the southern preserves of the lower North Branch of the Chicago River. The River flows through this woods and we will view it from several vantage points, stopping to read Anishinaabe stories along the way. 

Difficulty level: The walk will be at a moderate pace on both paved and unpaved trails.  The difficulty level will be intermediate as stepping over trees and other obstacles on some paths is typically necessary.

Parking/Meeting location: Park in the parking lot.  We'll meet near the bench & map/information sign located just inside the front entrance.

Meet your volunteer guide: Jack moved to Chicago this past January and soon got involved doing ecological stewardship for the Cook County Forest Preserves, including co-leading a conservation crew this summer. Prior to moving to Chicago, he led backpacking trips in the Adirondacks for his college’s orientation program. In school, his senior thesis was focused on seeing what applications indigenous ecological ethics could have on the attention economy. Jack is also a songwriter and avid scrabble player.

What to bring/wear: Water, weather appropriate clothing, and comfortable boots are all recommended.
