Our Trail Riding camps are designed to help students plan, prepare and problem solve BEFORE riding 'out'. Learn what you can do at home in your arena to prepare for the challenges commonly encountered in new environments...and how to overcome your horse's natural fears if they arise on your trail ride.Our facilities are purpose built for trail riding preparation, and we have easy to access trail rides for when the student and their horse feel ready. Our preparation arenas are surrounded by trail riding playgrounds, including obstacles.
Some of the common questions we get around trail riding:
What can I do on the ground to prepare?
What can I do to help my horse ride out alone or in a group?
What can I do about spooking/shying/jigging on the way home?
How can I better prepare myself for handling unknown situations?
How can I help my horse be confident about unusual obstacles, sights and also traffic?
We also cover practical knowledge like tying up, floating, mounting /dismounting...and much more.
Trail riding is often prefaced with the word 'just'...but there is nothing like going on a trail ride to really test the horse/human relationship, many people who are successful in the show/competition arena are afraid to take their horses 'out'...so it is an activity that requires a lot of preparation, practise and understanding of how horses think, feel and therefore behave.
Wongaburra is the perfect place to learn about, prepare for and participate in trail riding. Join us for 4 days immersion on one of our favourite teaching topics!
Camp arrival is Friday 16 May, dinner provided on arrival (as are all meals during camp) and breakfast on departure day (Wed 21 May) Cost $1495 pp all inclusive. Our facilities include campground, large overnight yards, tack/feed sheds, kitchen/dining/classroom and toilet/shower amenities.
