Trail Cleanup Event with WA State Parks at Squak Mountain

Work will consist of helping Squak Mountain State Park staff conduct routine maintenance of Phil's Creek Trail. To prepare for the fall rains, we'll be working on some culverts. We'll also clear the trails of debris, an ongoing effort after the fall 2024 bomb cyclone. Volunteers are to meet at the May Valley Loop trailhead. From there, we'll carpool up to Phil's Creek Trail via forest service road and walk the remainder of the way up to the trail. Please come prepared for a 1-mile, moderate-difficulty hike up to the work area.

After meeting at the May Valley Loop Trailhead, our group takes a closed-access forest service road—volunteers with 4WD/AWD vehicles that don’t mind carpooling with fellow participants should reach out to Terry directly in advance to help coordinate logistics for the day of.

What to Bring
Please wear closed-toed shoes and dress in layers suitable for the weather. If rain is expected, don’t forget to bring your rain gear. Make sure to wear long sleeves and pants that you don't mind getting dirty. Bring a full water bottle, snacks, and any other items you’ll need to be comfortable. If you have gloves, a manure fork, loppers, safety glasses, or a pruning saw, please bring them along. Please bring a bagged lunch.
