Traditional Weather Harvest Ceremony & Festival - Sunday October 11, 2026
About this Event
Sacred Fire Asheville invites you to a Traditional Weather Harvest Festival.
Sunday, October 11, 2026 ~ 11:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Family Friendly
The Harvest Festival is a once-a-year celebration rooted in the Nahua tradition which, for generations, has supported communities in relationship-building with their local weather. As an initiated Granicera, Amy Haynes will lead this ceremony of deep gratitude, along with her husband Douglas Haynes, our Asheville-area Nahua-tradition Weather Workers with the support and participation of the public and community.
GIVE BACK & GIVE THANKS
Gratitude opens the doors to balanced living. The Weather Beings see us and relate to us as we open our hearts, offer our thanks and honor the sacred, life-giving waters we received this past year. This cycle of reciprocity helps to mitigate the extremes and bring us into a deeper, sustaining relationship with the divine forces around us. Please celebrate the precious waters that grow life, given to us by the Weather Beings – Wind, Clouds, Rain, Sun, Lightning.
Your participation at this communal celebration helps complete a cycle of reciprocity with the Weather Beings by acknowledging their life-sustaining gifts and offering thanks for those gifts.
Your participation includes bringing 3 traditional offerings and a potluck dish for our feast. The specific offerings being asked for by these Divine expressions are:
1) Fresh cut flowers
2) Fruit – particularly aromatic are appreciated.
3) Bread – traditionally some sweet and some savory.
Please read your registration confirmation email for more details including driving and parking directions. Check your junk mail if you do not receive this information or contact us.
