We’re excited to welcome Billy Bailey with Old Ways Education back to Breathe Easy Farm for another afternoon of learning about the plants growing all around us!
If you’ve joined us for one of Billy’s previous classes, you know how much knowledge can be found in a walk through the woods, fields or the “weeds” growing at the edges of the property.
This time, Billy is changing things up a little! He will share his knowledge of tinctures—what they are, how plants have traditionally been prepared, and how people have used wild plants for generations.
And there’s a special topic that definitely caught our attention…
SASSAFRAS TOOTHBRUSHES!
Long before plastic toothbrushes appeared on store shelves, people made use of materials found in nature. Billy will share the traditional use of sassafras as a natural toothbrush and the history and knowledge behind the practice.
Of course, this is Old Ways Education, so you can expect plenty of conversation about wild plants, traditional knowledge and the useful plants growing right under our feet.
Billy has visited Breathe Easy Farm several times, and his classes are always interesting, informative and full of those “I had no idea that plant could be used for that!” moments.
If you’re interested in foraging, medicinal plants, herbal preparations, traditional skills or simply becoming more familiar with the plants around you, this should be a fun afternoon.
