Welcome to the inaugural event of Traditional Kayak Fishing on Lake Chatuge hosted by the Appalachian Kayak Fishing League.
This is a new limited series that hopefully can become a regular thing. This will be a no FFS and no Motor event. Basic sonar is allowed. If you already have FFS on your kayak, you can either remove the transducer beforehand or we can strap the Transducer pole down so it cannot be deployed during the event.
The Captains meeting is an in person event. We will be meeting at C&J Mountain Outfitters 159 N Main St, Hiawassee Ga 30546 Meetup time is 5:30am on Sunday March 22nd we will go over rules and basic tournament info there. Launch and lines in will be at 6:30am and you may use any public boat ramp. Lines out will be at 2:30pm. This is a 5 fish limit event, with an 8" minimum. Black Bass species only, and artificial lures are allowed.
We will be uploading our catch to the AKFL Facebook page. (I can also judge from phones if cell service is an issue.) Weigh in location is back at C&J Mountain Outfitters at 3:30pm.
Entry fees are $40 for the tournament Optional Big Bass pot of $10.
If you haven't already filled out a 2026 AKFL waiver then please get yours sent in before the tournament just to save time. If you are unable to do it online I will have some that can be filled out at the captains meeting. I will arrive early to allow anyone that needs to fill one out by hand to do so.

This is a 100% payout event and The winner will be Qualified for the AKFL Championship on Lake Guntersville in October. I will also have some prize packs for anglers outside the money line.
