Traditional Japanese dance - workshop by Teruka Ogawa
Kamigatamai has developed alongside the choreography of Kamigata kabuki theatrical performances.
We will learn more about traditional Japanese dance by trying it firsthand together at the event.
To fully enjoy the event, wearing comfortable clothes to move in is recommended.
The workshop will be in English.
About Teruka Ogawa
Teruka Ogawa is the direct disciple of the current grandmaster of the Ogawaryu dance school of Kamigatamai, Yonsei Iemoto Ogawa Teru, the 4th Teru Ogawa. Ogawaryu was founded in Osaka by Ogawa Riemon, a Kamigata kabuki choreographer, in the 1770s. As Natori Shihan, accredited master and teacher, of the oldest school of Kamigatamai, Teruka Ogawa has performed at traditional dance festivals, dedicatory dances for shrines, and dance ceremonies.
The school has cultivated their overseas activities, and she has continued dance performances and dance workshops in European countries. She lives in Denmark and teaches Ogawaryu school’s style of Kamigatamai in Copenhagen.
