Cat Alvarado grew up in an uber-Christian household, got married at 19, and expected to be a trad wife. Instead she ended up working three jobs so her husband could start a metal band. She became the trad husband.
She turned that story into an award-winning comedy show that's traveled across the country and around the world. Now it's time to tape the special — and she's doing it right here in Portland at the Curious Comedy Theatre.
Joining Cat for this one-night-only taping is Emmy-nominated comedy writer and performer Paul Clay — the man who mentored Cat when she started performing in 2013, and who is taping his own special the same show. One generation of comedy handing off to the next, on the same stage.

ABOUT THE HEADLINER: Cat Alvarado has performed stand up across the US and Canada for over 13 years. She released a comedy album in 2023 with Blonde Medicine records called “Off-White”, which can be heard on Sirius XM, Spotify and YouTube. Most recently, Trad-Wife was featured as one of Sydney Fringe’s “Best Shows in Comedy” and won the Pittsburgh Fringe "Best Femme Lead Comedy" award.
ABOUT THE FEATURE: Paul Clay has been making audiences laugh for over 40 years. An Emmy-nominated comedy writer whose credits include Designing Women and The Arsenio Hall Show, Clay has spent decades at the intersection of sharp writing and live performance.
