Two one-hour tours will be offered at 10:00 AM and 11:00 AM, rain or shine. The houses are small and space is limited, so be sure to reserve your spot in advance. Your $5 donation will support our restoration efforts.
Step into history as we uncover the architectural evolution of these c. 1797 wood-frame houses located in the heart of Fell's Point. This guided tour offers a rare, in-depth look at their original construction, the craftsmanship that shaped them, and the ongoing meticulous restoration efforts that are preserving their legacy.
Through careful forensic architectural analysis, research, and archaeological investigations, we have uncovered key details about how these homes were constructed, their original appearance, and how they looked in the 1840s-1850s when free Black ship caulkers lived and worked here. Learn how layers of paint, hidden structural elements, early nail holes, and period materials have helped us to meticulously restore the houses' exteriors and are informing our work as we now focus on the restoration of their interiors.
Don’t miss this opportunity to step into history and witness the restoration of a vital chapter of our past.
