Hands-on cyano
About this Event

Join artist and curator Naj Shirazi, for an experimental introduction to cyanotype—a 19 th

century photographic printing process that produces a characteristic blue image.

Inspired by the themes of the Lip Lines exhibition, this hands-on workshop explores the lips

through the idea of the trace. Participants will experiment with making photographic

impressions using light-sensitive cyanotype paper, creating images through layering,

transparency, found materials and direct contact. Alongside learning the foundations of the

cyanotype process, the workshop encourages playful experimentation and reflection on

how this camera-less photography can record presence, touch and memory.

Suitable for beginners and those with previous creative experience alike, the session offers

an introduction to the history and chemistry of cyanotype before moving into practical

printmaking and individual experimentation.

All materials are provided, and each participant can keep their own unique cyanotype print.

The workshop includes:

o Unlimited cava

o A guided tour of Lip Lines exhibition

o One cyanotype print to take home

o All materials provided
