A Clamour of Voices
Join us for a special evening with renowned photographer Jem Southam, whose work has shaped the landscape of contemporary British photography for over five decades. In A Clamour of Voices, Southam reflects on how memory, experience and the many voices we carry with us influence our encounters with the landscapes around us, drawing on a lifetime of photographic work made across the South West.
Through stories, images and reflections from projects including The Red River, The River/Winter, Four Winters and Starlings, Jem will explore his distinctive approach to photography. His work is rooted in the slow observation of place, returning to sites over months and years to build layered visual narratives that reveal the changing relationship between people, time and landscape.
Whether you're a photographer, artist, student or simply someone who enjoys seeing the world differently, this is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the UK's most respected photographic voices. Join us in the Mayor's Parlour at Devonport Guildhall for an inspiring evening of photography, storytelling and conversation.
