Toxicology: The Science of "Don't Eat That"
About this Event
📚Lecture: "Toxicology: The Science of 'Dont Eat That'"
🎤Speaker: Tania Onica (BSc DABT, Biomedical Toxicology)
TOXICOLOGY: The Science of "Dont Eat That" is a cheeky introduction into the historically infamous field of poisonings. Join for a primer on the basics of what is considered “toxic” or a “toxin” to the human body, some examples of chemical exposures leading to serious health effects, and finally a commentary on the disingenuous nature of so-called “detox cures”.
Tania Onica has a B.Sc. in biochemistry and a M.Sc. in biomedical toxicology from the University of Guelph and is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. Her focus is on evaluating and communicating health risks related to exposures to chemicals in the everyday environment and opposing scientific misinformation.
