Townsville Folk Club is a great listening space for traveling artists and locals. Tim Woodz and Silky Oak both played at the Townsville folk festival and will be bringing that magic to the Herbert Hotel. Put it in your diary, will be a wonderful show!Tim Woodz
Like a Jazz crooning, folk rocker at an Aussie BBQ, Tim Woodz makes up songs with interesting stories. His music is uplifting, clever and nostalgic which has landed him in the folk festival circuit since 2012 and touring with iconic performer Tex Perkins.
Tim grew up in Gippsland Victoria, being inspired by his parents who’d perform in the local folk club, Tim started creating punk inspired folk songs or perhaps the other way around as teenager, which led him to write in a lyrically naive style and produced nostalgic and very clever songs about trees, possums, laundromats and everything in between. Along with some amazingly heartfelt songs for his Daughter.
Tim plays Acoustic Guitar, Banjo and Harmonica, with a style to make your feet tap, and your cheeks hurt from laughing.
Silky Oak
Silky oak is a solo folk project, bringing a minimalist old school vibe, with fingerpicking acoustic guitar, poetic lyrics and emotional intensity through his voice. Often telling stories of love, travel and the wonders of being human. Silky paints pictures with his words and offers an awkward, shy yet intimate atmosphere for the listeners to feel comfortable and reflect.
