Join the Town of DeWitt as we travel to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, where we will visit The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon on a horse-drawn wagon ride! We will depart from the DeWitt Town Hall and travel to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, where we will make our first stop at Leonard Harrison State Park for a photo opportunity.
We will then travel to the Penn Wells Hotel in 1869, one of Wellsboro’s most historic landmarks; the current building was restored in the 1920s. The Historic Hotels of America recognized the Penn Wells Hotel for best practice in historic displays in 2019.
Enjoy lunch included at the Penn Wells Hotel. Your entrée choices are: (please make your selection at the time of reservation). Choose from Oven Roasted Turkey served with gravy, traditional stuffing, mashed potatoes, sautéed green beans, and cranberry sauce OR Broiled Haddock served with a white wine butter sauce, wild rice medley, and sautéed green beans. Entrees are served with a mixed green salad with house-made balsamic dressing, a roll, iced tea, hot tea or coffee, and a Chef’s choice of dessert. Following lunch, spend some time strolling the beautiful Main Street and checking out all the great shops.
Arrive at Ole’ Covered Wagon and take a tour with us through the wondrous Pennsylvania Grand Canyon on a horse-drawn covered wagon. The tour guides are fluent in the history of the Canyon going back to the 19th century. They will tell the tale while the horses wind their way on the Pine Creek Rail Trail. Take a jump into history while enjoying everything the canyon has to offer. After the wagon ride, we will depart home and make a stop en route for a quick dinner
Walking Disclosure: This is an active tour and involves walking and stairs that would not be suitable for those with mobility constraints. If a guest decides to attend with mobility constraints, they are responsible for bringing a paying guest to help assist.
