Town Hall: Expanding the Electric Transmission Network in Texas

As Texas's electricity demand continues to grow, expanding the state's transmission infrastructure has become a critical policy issue. A proposed 765-kilovolt transmission network would significantly increase the grid's capacity, helping deliver electricity from West and North Texas to the state's growing urban centers while supporting long-term grid reliability.
The proposal has also generated debate, with supporters citing the need to meet rising energy demand and strengthen the electric grid, while landowners and lawmakers have raised concerns about the project's impact on private property and rural communities.
