○ Brief overview of Mash Detroit's mission and commitment to local businesses.
● Introduction of key facilitators and community partners present.
● Icebreaker: Brief self-introductions from attendees
II. Purpose of the Town Hall Meeting (10 minutes)
● Explain the concept of a "Business Resilience Hub" and its importance for local
economic stability and growth, especially in times of disruption (e.g., economic
downturns, natural disasters, public health crises).
● Highlight the specific goal: To gather direct input from Mack/Connor corridor
businesses to understand their unique needs and challenges, informing the
development of a tailored Resilience Hub node in their area.
● Emphasize the collaborative nature of the meeting and the value of participant
insights.
III. Understanding the Current Landscape & Challenges (20-30 minutes)
● Facilitated Discussion: Current Business Environment
○ What are the primary operational challenges your business faces today? (e.g.,
supply chain, staffing, funding, customer retention, infrastructure,
crime/safety, digital literacy).
○ What specific vulnerabilities have you experienced or observed in the
Mack/Connor corridor that impact business continuity?
○ How prepared do you feel your business is to withstand unexpected
disruptions?
IV. Defining the Needs for a Resilience Hub Node (30-45 minutes)
● Brainstorming Session: What does "Resilience" mean to your business?
○ What resources or services would directly help your business prepare for or
recover from disruptions? (e.g., emergency preparedness training, financial
literacy workshops, access to capital, cybersecurity support, marketing
assistance, legal aid, shared workspace/equipment).
○ What types of infrastructure (physical or digital) would enhance business
resilience in the corridor? (e.g., reliable internet, community power backup,
secure storage, communication networks).
○ How can a Resilience Hub foster stronger connections and mutual support
among businesses in the area? (e.g., peer-to-peer mentoring, business
networking events, collaborative purchasing).
○ What role should Mash Detroit play in supporting these efforts?
V. Open Forum & Q&A (15-20 minutes)
● Opportunity for attendees to ask questions, share additional insights, or propose
ideas not yet discussed.
● Address any immediate concerns or clarifications.
VI. Next Steps & Call to Action (10 minutes)
● Summarize key themes and identified needs from the discussion.
● Outline Mash Detroit's immediate next steps based on the town hall feedback
(e.g., compiling a report, forming a working group, developing a proposal). Explain
how businesses can stay involved and contribute to the development of the
Resilience Hub node.
○ Invitation to join a follow-up committee or working group.
○ Information on future meetings or surveys.
