Towards Gender-responsive Health Systems for Cervical Cancer Prevention

The School of Nursing and Midwifery and the Trinity Centre for Practice and Healthcare Innovation are delighted to welcome Dr Erica Liebermann, Assistant Professor, University of Rhode Island College of Nursing, as part of the Faculty of Health Sciences Visiting Professor Fund 2026.

Dr Liebermann will explore how health systems can become more gender-responsive in advancing cervical cancer prevention. Drawing on her extensive research across the United States and low and middle-income countries, she will examine innovative strategies to improve access to HPV vaccination and cervical cancer screening. Dr Liebermann’s work demonstrates how evidence-informed, nurse-led and community-based models can strengthen early detection and address persistent barriers to preventive care.

About the Speaker
Dr Erica Liebermann is a nurse practitioner and health services researcher specialising in women’s health, cancer prevention, and equitable access to preventive services. Her work integrates health services research and implementation science to inform policy and enhance delivery of vaccination, screening, and early diagnosis initiatives.
