About this Event
The event will provide an information and learning space for eye-health practitioners in Ireland to engage with emerging practices, opportunities, and challenges – for eye health care in different developing contexts, as well as an opportunity to discuss the interdependency of eye-health developments in Ireland and further afield.
There will be space for meeting and discussing before and between sessions.
Speakers will include ophthalmologists, optometrists and ophthalmic nurses practicing and teaching in Ireland, the UK, Madagascar and more whose work transcends economic and developmental divides. Dr. Andrew Blaikie (founder of the Arclight Project, University of St Andrews), Dr Tunde Peto (Queen’s University Belfast), Dr Sirjhun Patel (West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust), Dr. Kate Coleman (Ophthalmic Surgeon & Founder of iKey), , Dr Gatera Fistom Kitema (University of Rwanda), Dr. Fatima Hamroush (Consultant Medical Ophthalmologist and former Libyan Minister of Health), Jaona Lala Iandrinirina (CBM Global Regional Eye Health Advisor), Dr. Jonathon Jackson (Consultant Optometrist and Director of the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network) and Dr. Ving Fai Chan (Queen’s University Belfast).
