About this Event

Join The City Architecture Forum on a guided tour of the transformed home of the Skinners’ Livery Company at Dowgate Hill.

The Hall which is Listed Grade 1 and is also a Scheduled Monument has a rich history being the ancient home of the Skinners’ one of the Great Twelve Livery Companies in the City of London.

Architects 6a have completed an 8 year, once in a generation, project ,which has skilfully embraced heritage conservation and decarbonisation in their design processes to bring about an exemplar project which celebrates their re-use,repair and re-design skills.

Seven centuries of architecture have now married the old with the new to provide new spaces and new services alongside the cherished historic rooms which have been restored as event spaces ,dining rooms ,offices ,members facilities and apartments for the Company.

Led by Tom Emerson of 6a we will hear the story of the complex and challenging journey to project completion by a team which included:

Heritage Consultant:The Regency Townhouse

Interior Designer:Carter Owers

Structural Engineer:Price and Myers

M&E Consultant:Ritchie + Daffin

QS/Project Manager:Synergy

Contractor:Rooff
