Tour of Cardiff Sixth Form College
About this Event
Please note: this event is for over 18’s only
After more than three decades standing empty and falling into disrepair, this iconic Cardiff Bay landmark has undergone an impressive transformation. Originally built in 1889 for the Cory brothers, renowned ship brokers and coal exporters, the historic building has been sensitively restored and repurposed as the main teaching facility for Cardiff Sixth Form College, one of the UK's highest-achieving independent schools.
This visit offers a unique opportunity to explore a project that successfully combines heritage conservation with modern educational design. Attendees will have the chance to see how original features have been preserved throughout the development, including the building's historic safe, former lift mechanisms and an original fireplace dating back to 1881.
The restoration of the Cory's Building stands as an excellent example of how historic structures can be reimagined for contemporary use while retaining their character and significance. It has also brought new investment, activity and economic benefits to the Cardiff Bay area.
Places are strictly limited - you MUST register in advance to attend.
This learning activity can contribute to your annual CPD return and should be logged accordingly.
