About this Event
Nuit Touch Tour of Snail work (for the lake)
Move through the coloured sands of Shannon Garden-Smith's "Snail work (for the lake)", gently interacting with the pattern by disrupting, unmaking and remaking it. Made of unfixed, vibrantly dyed sand, Shannon Garden-Smith's floor installation recreates historical marbling patterns at an immersive scale. The work emerged from the artist’s research on sand, which links sand extraction with settler colonial systems of knowing and development in Tkaronto.
This touch tour offers facilitated touch, visual description and conversation with the artist for expanded accessibility. It caters to those who are blind, live with low vision or require low-sensory experiences, though people of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate.
Visual stories will be emailed to registrants two days in advance and provided in hard-copy form upon arrival.
