Touch of Freedom School with the Karson Institute

The series provides a safe space for adults to learn about Black History and ask questions to further their knowledge. A range of community leaders and professionals with experience in education, storytelling, Black History, holistic practices, and health will teach throughout the program.

Touch of Freedom School is part of the Karson Institute for Race, Peace & Social Justice founded by Dr. Karsonya "Kaye" Wise Whitehead.

Students are expected to attend 80% of the classes. Participants receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

Class Dates, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. each session:

• January 31
• February 7
• February 14
• February 21
• February 28

BONUS BOOK CLUB: On January 16 and January 23, there will be a Touch of Freedom School Book Club featuring, Notes from a Colored Girl: The Civil War Pocket Diaries of Emilie Frances Davis by Dr. Karsonya "Kaye" Wise Whitehead. The discusison takes place from 12-1:30 p.m., includes lunch, and is located in the Andrew White Student Center, 4th Floor Programming Room on Loyola University's campus. Book Club is not part of the required attendance.
