Each year we recognize Autism Awareness Month to promote inclusivity and build stronger bonds in the Coral Springs community. The Coral Springs Police and Fire Department invite individuals with special needs and their families to our annual Touch-A-Truck event. This hands-on experience allows persons with Autism or cognitive issues interact with public safety rescue vehicles, equipment and personnel on Saturday, April 5th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Mullins Hall Parking Lot (10150 NW 29th Street.)Fire and police personnel will be on site to educate community members who want to familiarize themselves with rescue equipment and explore emergency vehicles. Vehicles and equipment will include police fleet vehicles, fire fleet vehicles, EMS trucks, public works vehicles, equipment sensory stations, and more.
Those with special needs and their caregivers who reside in the city can register on-site for the Coral Springs Police Department’s Special Needs Database. This specialized registry assists first responders when responding to emergencies that involve persons with special needs.
