Presenting sponsor MolsonCoors and Tosa Tonight are going to close out Wauwatosa’s Independence Day celebration with a couple of Wisconsin’s Summertime favorites: The Whiskeybelles and Sons of Sconnie.
Kicking off the night, a southeastern Wisconsin Summer staple: The Whiskeybelles. The Whiskybelles consisting of Chrissy Dzioba Clobes on guitar & vocals, Kimberly (Kimmy) Hanson on fiddle & vocals, and Sara Moilanen on bass & vocals have won fans’ hearts and WAMI awards with their expertly played blend of country, folk, and Americana. They have opened for Charlie Daniels, Violent Femmes, Montgomery Gentry and Jana Kramer, and in 2019, they sang the National Anthem at Lambeau Field for the Packers vs. Vikings home opener. (The Pack won this game 21-16 on the strength of Aaron Jones' 116 rushing yards on 23 carries.)
We are tickled that in their incredibly busy Summer of performing, they found a spot open on their calendar to play at Tosa Tonight. We can’t wait to welcome them!
And no discussion of busy Summer bands would be complete without mention of Sons of Sconnie. Now, we know what you’re thinking… “Sons of Sconnie? Never heard of them,” but you very likely have heard of The Toys. Well, due to some matters way above our heads, Sons of Sconnie is the new name taken by the band that formerly performed as The Toys.
Nothing to worry about. Jake (keys, vocals), Kevin (bass, vocals), Mathew (guitar, vocals), Alex (designated shredder, vocals), and Timothy (drums, vocals) still reign in all of the essential elements of a great Wisconsin live-music performance: a crowd-pleasing set of sing-along and dance-along songs, high-energy performances that keep their audiences guessing, and of course, the ability to tap kegs wherever they go!
There may not be fireworks following this year’s show (fireworks will follow the show [August 7th] on Tosa’s Night Out), but with bands this good, you can be assured that Wauwatosa will close out the 4th of July with a bang!
