The Brahms German Requiem is one of the most important and well-loved of the choral masterworks of the Romantic period.The Requiem spans a full spectrum of human emotion with statements of celebration and hope, sadness and triumph, and provides a blessing of consolation, comfort, and peace.
The Requiem is often cited as the pinnacle of Brahms’ career, showcasing his love for both voice and orchestra. The familiar chorus “How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place” highlights themes of comfort and solace.
