Torphichen Summer Nights Presents The John Elliott Trio

John Elliott is an Edinburgh-based jazz pianist and educator known for leading a trio that held a long-term residency at The Shore Bar in Leith. He specializes in jazz piano, theory, and arranging, and is the author of instructional jazz books. John lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. He has been learning about how to make jazz music since being at school where he led a traditional jazz band on trumpet, played trumpet and piano in a local big band as well as doing some arranging. His passion for jazz continued through university years and beyond in the 1980s and 90s when he led various bands including a jazz octet. He is currently focussed on playing jazz piano, as well as teaching and being an author.
