About this Event

TopFlight FC is Toronto's first dedicated in person FC 27 tournament, played on PS5 at A-Zone Gaming Lounge on Saturday, October 10. You enter as an individual, you are drawn against random opponents, and you play your way to the championship and a share of the prize pool.

This is a double elimination tournament. One bad match does not end your day. You stay in until you lose twice, so everybody who turns up gets a real run at it rather than a single ten minute lottery.

FC 27 lands on September 25. Two weeks later we find out who runs the city.

HOW IT WORKS

Qualifying rounds

Everyone plays. Every win is worth three points and your goal difference is tracked across all your matches. You stay in the tournament until you lose twice. A first loss keeps you alive, a second loss ends your run.

The cut

The sixteen surviving players with the most points, separated by goal difference where points are level, move into the knockout bracket.

The knockout

Straight knockout from the round of sixteen. Win and you go through, lose and you are out. It ends with one champion before the doors close at 4:00 PM.

TOURNAMENT RULES AND TERMS
Entry and pairing

• Players register individually. There are no teams.
• Opponents are drawn at random by the organisers.
• Draws are final once announced. Requests for specific opponents are not permitted.
• Re-draws happen only where a player withdraws or fails to check in.

Tournament format

• The tournament runs as a double elimination competition followed by a knockout stage.
• Every player is guaranteed a minimum of two matches.
• A win is worth three points. Goal difference is recorded for every match and is used to separate players level on points.
• Two losses eliminate a player from the tournament.
• The sixteen surviving players ranked highest on points, then goal difference, advance to the knockout bracket.
• Where points and goal difference are level, the organisers will separate players by goals scored, then by the result between the two players if they have already met, then by a coin toss.
• If the number of surviving players is not exactly sixteen when the qualifying rounds close, the organisers will set the size of the knockout bracket and seed it by points, then goal difference.
• The knockout stage is single elimination through to the final.
• Bracket structure and seeding are determined by the organisers.
• Match rules may be adjusted on the day to keep the tournament fair and on schedule.

Match settings

• Match length: 5 minute halves, 10 minutes total per match.
• Extra time and penalties settle any knockout match level at full time. Qualifying matches that finish level will be settled by a 3 minute extra time and then penalties.
• Squad, stadium and other in game settings will be confirmed to registered players before the event.
• Custom or created teams are not permitted.

Schedule and check in

• Match times, brackets and opponent pairings are communicated approximately one week before the event.
• Participants are responsible for monitoring tournament communications and updates.
• Arrive at least thirty minutes before your first scheduled match.
• Valid registration confirmation must be presented at check in.
• Late arrivals may receive a warning or forfeit the match depending on where the schedule stands. A forfeit counts as a loss.

Controllers

• Players may bring their own compatible PS5 controllers.
• Controllers must be fully functional and tournament ready.
• Organisers reserve the right to inspect devices.
• Backup controllers will be available.

Gameplay and conduct

• Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.
• Abuse, harassment, cheating, exploitation of game bugs or disruptive behaviour may result in immediate disqualification.
• Respect toward players, staff, sponsors and venue personnel is expected at all times.
• All organiser decisions are final.

Technical issues

• Technical issues must be reported immediately.
• Tournament officials decide whether a match restart is warranted.
• Organisers hold the final decision on disconnects and equipment disputes.

Photography and media

• By participating, players consent to event photography, livestreaming, videography and promotional content usage.
• Footage and images may be used in future TopFlight FC, Tepida Studios and A-Zone promotional materials.

Changes and cancellations

• Organisers reserve the right to amend the rules, prize structure, format, schedule or event operations where necessary.
• Any significant update will be communicated to registered participants.
