About Mithago

Mithago is a mad disabled transsexual writer/performer/facilitator. her work explores identity, location, body, and the interplay between them. how we shape and are shaped by the realities we inhabit and those around us. the ways in which those realities intersect. the friction at those intersections. the impact that has on both our bodies and our memories. mithago has performed, judged and taught poetry nationally and internationally, running workshops at both the Transylvania International and Tell ‘Em Spoken Word Festivals in 2024, and representing England at the European and World Slam Championships in 2023. her poetry has been translated into Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch and German, and appears in Where the Land Forgets Itself, Butch-Femme Press, and Aghh! Zine among others.

About Jack

Jack is a poet, playwright, librettist and novelist. His works have been performed across Europe, in venues ranging from the Minerva Theatre in Chichester to the Antonín Dvořák Theatre in the Czech Republic. He is currently working on his first novel and his second opera.

Jack has been chosen as this months "Chichester Spotlight" for his ongoing contribution to the Chichester Poetry & Spoken Word Scene.

What is Tongue Tied Poetry Slam?

Our slam is a high-energy, crowd-powered celebration of words, rhythm, and raw emotion. Poets take to the stage to share original pieces of work and the audience gets to cheer, snap, and even help judge! Whether you're performing or just soaking it all in, our slam is all about connection, creativity, and community. Come experience poetry like you’ve never heard it before!

At Tongue Tied we have monthly heats where up to 10 poets share their poetry in an inclusive welcoming environment. One winner voted by audience members will be crowned on the night and will be offered a 15 minute feature set at our next months slam.

They will also gain a place in our Grand Slam Final (May 2026) where they will battle it out for a cash prize, the coveted Tongue Tied Trophy and a unique performance opportunity to bring their work to larger audiences (Opportunity TBC!) - To give you a taste last year the winner won £50, the Tongue Tied Trophy and got free tickets and performed at Victorious Music Festival.

For Slammers (Performers):

Buy a Performer Ticket before they're gone!

If they're sold out and you want to perform, you can buy an audience ticket and sign up to the slam reserve list on the night as sometimes a poet gets lost along the way!

The rules of the slam: Bring 1 piece of original work up to 3 minutes long (no props and no music). All styles and themes are encouraged and you are welcome to read from paper or your preferred electronic device.

For Audience:

Simply buy an audience ticket sit back, relax and support our wonderful poets on the night, you might even get a chance to be on the slam judge panel!
