Tones of Silence; Futuna Chapel in Black and White (Exhibition)

Step inside Futuna Chapel during the Wellington Heritage Festival and experience this celebrated Karori landmark through the evocative beauty of black-and-white photography. 'Tones of Silence' presents a special exhibition of photographs by John Grace, whose images reveal the Chapel’s striking light, shadow, texture, form and atmosphere.
Created using an old tripod camera and remarkable 1866 French lenses, Grace’s photographs offer a contemplative way to see Futuna Chapel anew — connecting the craft of early photography with one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most distinctive heritage spaces.
The exhibition will be open across three Festival weekends from 11:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 31 October, Sunday 1 November, Saturday 7 November, Sunday 8 November, Saturday 14 November and Sunday 15 November.
