About this Event
Tonal Value – Depicting Light and Shadow, is the third workshop in this four-part series. Designed to provide young creatives with a solid art foundation. This workshop is suitable for beginners, while also being comprehensive enough for experienced young artists.
Join Xanthe Turner and Harlow Paton for an afternoon of exploring tonal value, with a focus on light and shadow in plein air painting. Through real-world observation and a series of targeted challenges, you will learn:
- About the importance of colour in developing/exploring your own artistic style
- Tips, tricks, and techniques: Using tonal value to communicate context
- How to utilise shadow and light to convey tone
- How to accurately depict objects, scenes, and weather conditions using light and shadow
Please bring a hat and a bottle of water. All art materials will be supplied by the facilitators!
Participation in all four workshops is not required, but it is strongly encouraged!
These workshops have been made possible by funding from the Next Gen Arts Grant.
