Tompkins County Minimum Wage Convening: Public Benefits
Monday, April 28, 2026 | 6:00 PM |
Join us for the seventh convening in a series of discussions exploring the possibility of establishing a countywide minimum wage in Tompkins County.
Younger workers are over-represented both in the low-wage workforce and in the unemployment statistics. Tompkins County invests heavily in supporting young people as they transition into the world of work. How would these transitions and these programs be affected by a countywide minimum wage increase? How do low wage levels affect these workers and their families? How would increasing the minimum wage affect the ability of youth employment programs to serve their clients and the likelihood of employers to hire them? In this convening, employers, workers, policymakers, and service providers will share their experiences
This convening is part of a broader effort to bring together workers, employers, community organizations, researchers, and policymakers to better understand the economic realities facing residents of Tompkins County. We welcome anyone interested in labor, economic policy, community wellbeing, and fair wages to participate.
Come learn, share perspectives, and help shape the conversation.
