About this Event

P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome PEN/Hemingway & Lambda Literary awards finalist Tomas Moniz for a discussion of his newest book, All Friends Are Necessary — an anthem to both queer & platonic love about the power of friendship, community, & the families we create for ourselves— along with an audience Q&A and book signing!

Tomas will be joined in conversation with award-winning writer Gabriel Bump, author of the novels Everywhere You Don't Belong and The New Naturals. After the talk, Tomas will sign copies of his book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

is a Latinx writer living in Oakland, CA. His debut novel, , was a finalist for the 2020 PEN/Hemingway, the LAMBDA, and the Foreward Indies Awards. He edited the popular and anthologies. He is the recipient of the prestigious SF Literary Arts Foundation’s 2016 Award and the 2020 Artist Affiliate for Headlands Center for Arts. He currently teaches at Berkeley City College and the Antioch MFA program.

ABOUT THE MODERATOR

grew up in South Shore, Chicago. He received his MFA in fiction from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His debut novel, , was a New York Times Notable Book of 2020 and has won the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, the Great Lakes Colleges Association New Writers Award for Fiction, the Heartland Booksellers Award for Fiction, and the Black Caucus of the American Library Association's First Novelist Award. Bump teaches at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
