Tom Bell

I’ve sung in bands for 62 years, from the early 60s to right now. I started with a band called The Jokers and am now in The Black and White Band, who, luckily, adopted me after a couple of Open Mic nights at the Blue Strawberry. Choirs and musical theatre have fed my hunger to sing. I was a letter carrier and the STL Post Office had me sing the National Anthem at new stamp unveilings. I was also able to sing it ten times at Busch Stadium, where the Cardinals won each time I did. A coincidence, I’m sure.I have always loved the music of the 60s and 70s: Rock&Roll, R & B, Blues, etc. Singing in a big band, I embraced the standard tunes I heard. This is to say, when making set lists for a show I can include; love songs (looking for, finding, losing, remembering), blues to sing and play harmonica, and a wealth of R&B, Rock and Standards from the 50s-80s. I choose songs I like because of a lyric, musicianship or a memory of which I am reminded. If I can entertain you, get you moving to a beat, make you think about a message in the music I present, or just stir up memories made by the music, I am happy.
