A talk by Alan Baxter
Books and films are very different forms of media. This is an exploration of how Tolkien’s major literary work, The Lord of the Rings, was understood by the team behind the widely acclaimed Peter Jackson trilogy of films.
This lavishly illustrated talk, including movie clips, will last about an hour and be presented by a member of the Tolkien Society, Alan Baxter.
Alan has delivered talks to the Tolkien Society at their ‘Return of the Ring’ conference and visited location sites in New Zealand. He has also taken part in the Lord of the Rings Fan Film, Born of Hope. In addition, he has had many roles in the heritage sector, including managing and mentoring museum sites and projects, as well as creating Lord of the Rings events, tours, and talks.
Suitable for age 12 and above. Under 16s must be accompanied by a paying adult.
