Hello friends (and friends of friends)TTEOTV - now in it's 14th year of holding space for orators & poets, tellers of stories, singers of songs, wandering wordsmiths who weave worlds of wonders!
We love our regulars and we love those who find themselves here for the first time.
This month it's Bring A Friend Month! We invite you all to invite someone along who maybe has never experienced spoken word, or been to one of our events. Celebrating community and togetherness in these tough times has never been more important - and sharing stories together is something humans have been doing forever.
We will also be doing another round of BOOK RAFFLE - with books being donated by Scriveners Inklings. We had our first trial of this in December and it was an absolute hoot. Tickets will be available on the door and throughout the night.
As per usual our monthly gig will have two open mic poetry sets with our own special brand of Outlaw Street Jazz for freestyle raps and singing, LIVE from O'Stranger-Tang, at Cafe Gummo, Thornbury ❤
This month we shall be starting a little earlier as Daylight Savings will be over. So come down from 7pm, and we will try and start between 7.30/8.
Sign up to the open mic by sending us a Facebook or Instagram message. You can also put your name down on the sign up sheet at the door when you turn up.
Tickets: We will be taking donations at the door which go toward making this gig happen each month. We don't think that art should have a financial barrier so don't pay us if you can't afford it! If you are able to give us money, we take cash or card.
Access: Cafe Gummo has a portable ramp for the front door step that can be put in place when requested. The inside of the building is all on one level, with the stage on the left when entering. There is a long hallway and step free access to an accessible toilet in the back garden.
There are gender neutral toilets with stalls or urinals, plus the accessible toilet.
The audience tends to be attentive to the open mic poets so the poets voice in the microphone is the main sound. The band sets are quite loud as there are drums and amplifiers, plus multiple vocalists on microphones. The back garden is available for those not keen on the noise.
As this is an open mic event, we do not know the content that will be shared on the night. People of all ages are welcome to share something on the open mic.
We ask that you do not attend our event if you have any cold or flu symptoms. Even if it is not covid, it can still be contagious and we can care for each other by minimising the spread of viruses.
Come solo or invite your mates, either way we do look forward to seeing you really soon!
