About the Portrait Series:

Playing on both meanings of the phrase, To Be Determined highlights the expansiveness of Black queerness and how it can't be determined through the lens of sociopolitical norms — while also emphasizing how, as Black queer people, we must remain determined to resist those biases.

About Morgan Davis:

Morgan Davis (she/her), also known as Morganeliz, is a multidisciplinary artist who blends photography, fashion, graphic design, storytelling, and community events to explore identity and belonging through the lens of Black queerness.

Her journey began at 17, when she launched her first plus-size clothing line and blog called Hey Big Trender. After earning her BFA in Design from Howard University in 2015, she founded Distinctly Creative — a DMV-based initiative and storefront that supported Black creatives through workshops, retail, and curated events.

In 2020, she launched a size-inclusive cut-and-sew line called Morganeliz, which has since evolved into a multidisciplinary studio where photography, fashion, visual storytelling, and cultural commentary converge. Across mediums, her work honors Black, queer folks through intentional, joy-filled spaces that invite folks to take up space, share our stories, and imagine new ways of being together.
