Tish - Phillum Film Screenings

Phillum invites you to the screening of Tish.

An intimate portrait of Tish Murtha, a working-class photographer who used documentary photography to capture and embrace her surroundings, and the people who occupied them. Despite early acclaim for her work, she was unable to escape the poverty and societal inequality she exposed, failing to make a living from photography and died in poverty.

In the film, Tish’s daughter Ella opens up her mother’s archive and traces her life through previously unseen images, artefacts, letters and diaries, along with conversations with those who knew her.
